Themes and Analysis
Graveyard Shark appreciates the absurdity of its premise and forms a narrative self-referential in nature which parodies the b-movie tropes of creature features. It tackles such themes as urban myths as well as one’s hungry curiosity for the unknown and how such myths and legends shape society by using horror mixed in with humor. It is observed that the practical effects including the human shark suit was a recognizable highlight, and due to this, the movie provided a sense of nostalgia for those who enjoy practical monster designs.
Conclusion:
The audience who is interested in the subgenre of cheap monster films will enjoy ‘Graveyard Shark’ as it combines horror and comedy together. While the film is a low budget production and has its own pacing and humor which is quite niche and may not suit all audiences, it definitely will appeal to fans of low budget creature features that use practical effects.
