‘Our Little Secret’ is a romantic comic-based movie directed by Stephen Herek with Lindsay Lohan and Ian Harding playing the main characters which is set to be released in 2024. The plot of the film integrates elements of former loves and family interactions during holidays, thus offering a mixture of jokes and tenderness.
Synopsis
Avery (played by Lindsay Lohan) and Logan (played by Ian Harding) were once childhood friends who grew up loving each other. This all changed about a decade ago when Avery was unable to say yes to Logan who had unexpectedly proposed while under the influence of alcohol. Fast forward a decade later, Avery is now in a relationship with Cameron (portrayed by Jon Rudnitsky) while Logan is with Cassie (Katie Baker). But, Cameron and Cassie are apparently brother and sister and this is information that was never revealed until one Christmas when the families got together. This situation presents a lot of opportunities for Avery and Logan because they are married in their imaginations, while trying to hide the fact that they were once lovers to their spouses. And oh the hilarious misunderstandings that occurred as the holidays progressed, it was touching and comical at the same time.

Lindsay Lohan as Avery: Working woman dealing with old feelings she has never quite resolved. Falling For Christmas is Lohan’s 3rd movie for Netflix, following Irish Wish which will be released in 2024.
Ian Harding as Logan: He used to date and be best friends with Avery and now he’s caught up in a dramatic holiday. Harding’s biggest role was Ezra Fitz on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.
Jon Rudnitsky as Cameron: Avery’s boyfriend and Cassie’s brother who is oblivious to the sparks that flew between Avery and Logan in the past.
Katie Baker as Cassie: The sister of Cameron and the girlfriend of Logan who is in the middle of the chaos that the holidays have brought.
Erica is played by Kristin Chenoweth. She is the critical matriarch of the family who is one more source of stress for the family during holidays.
Stan is meek character played by Tim Meadows who provides some of comedic relief in the family’s tragedies. Tim Meadows was invited by Lohan after the two have appeared as a couple in “Mean Girls”.
“Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” as well as the live action version of “101 Dalmatians” both by Stephen Herek aptly describe the style of the film’s director. The screenplay is rewritten by Hailey DeDominicis in her debut of made film.
Reception Feedback
“Our Little Secret” has garnered mixed reaction from the critics. The New York Post report suggested that this time, the film is better than what Lohan did in her last Netflix projects, but the story and the characters are weak and not fully fleshed out.
While, according to an article in Decider, this is certainly not the case, there was nothing spectacular here as well – the highest pitched voices in the film were the cast with quite mediocre plot and humor unfortunately and missed many chances to be more interesting.
With such reviews however, some spectators considered it a charming and quite funny movie tuned into the holiday time to bring the Christmas mood in its audience.
IMDb Ratings
On 6th December 2024 Our Little Secret has a neglectable lowering of 5.8/10 rating averaged out from the reviews of around 8700 users reviewed on IMDb.
This goes on to imply some unpleasant responses by the audience and so Lacey should not expect undeserving fame from this work as although it has its moments of entertainment it does not do anything special and is an ordinary film in a very cluttered and boring space of festive romantic comedies.
The Final Word/Conclusion
The film ‘Our Little Secret’ is centered too much on Christmas which makes it easier for viewers to relate to it or take it quite light despite the backstage complexity of dealing with ex partners during Christmas. The film’s characters are well known which adds up to the plot guaranteed with comic situations, that’s why it is not hard to watch. Despite the fact that the film does not offer anything particularly new to the audiences in the romantic comedy of the genre, it is a good taste for the audience who also subscribe to Netflix-themed films for the festive day and Lindsay Lohan or casted Christmas movies.
